How does DataMAPt work?A peek behind the scenes

Since DataMAPt is agentless we do not require customers to install cpu intensive, security risky agents on each machine.

DataMAPt is cloud-based. All information gathered from all of the critical components is stored in secure and redundant DataMAPt databases.

Users access the DataMAPt dashboards via any browser-based system. This can be a desktop computer at work, a laptop at home or at a client site, a mobile device at an airport; any device that has a browser and that has access to the Internet.

So one of the most common questions we are asked is 'How do you monitor our internal or cloud-based systems?' We have many options available to accomplish this. Since we pull the data we can monitor from multiple locations inside and outside your networks. Here are a few customer scenarios:

#1 - Managed Service Provider with many customer locations

To facilitate fast client procurement we have small Banana Pi appliances that are pre-loaded with our ACES software. MSP's can install them in 5 minutes at each site or they can choose to download and install our stand-alone ACES as well.

Then to add an extra layer of comfort some MSP's choose to run a Pi server from their office to ping their customer's websites and external servers to get another view point and show they have redundant monitoring for their client's critical systems.

#2 - Two or more geographically separated Data Centers

Many other monitoring solutions don't work well with different data center locations. DataMAPt was designed to handle as many locations as a customer can have. For these we usually recommend an ACES server on premise to gather the data and send back to our sites.

#3 - Hybrid Data Centers

As SaaS, PaaS and IaaS grow, more customers are moving some of their data to hosted solutions while keeping other data in house. This monitoring scenario is simple to solve with DataMAPt. We have installed Pi units and even 1U and 2U servers in the physical data centers to keep watch of the on premise hardware and software. Then we have the customers install the stand-alone ACES software in the cloud networks. They all report back to the DataMAPt data centers so it appears as a single monitoring solution!

#4 - 100% Cloud-based system

When customers are using a hosted environment (AWS, GoDaddy, RackSpace, etc) then the best solution is to implement our stand-alone ACES software. They simply install the software on one server and our proprietary ACES software will automatically monitor all objects in that network (servers, VMs, databases, and more). Then ACES will communicate to one of DataMAPt's data centers via HTTPS.
